Disk Recon 14.1
Result Panel
The Result Panel is the main area of the Disk Recon window where scan results are displayed. It is divided into tabs — each tab runs a different type of query and has a layout tailored to that query's output.
Available Tabs
- Folder Sizes — Tree showing the total size and file count of every scanned folder. Use this first when you don't know where space is going — drill into the biggest folders until you find the culprit.
- File Search — List of all files matching your filter criteria (name, date, size, content, attributes). Use this when you know what kind of file you're looking for.
- Duplicate Files — Groups of files that are identical by name, size, date, or content hash. Use this to reclaim space lost to accidental copies and old backups.
- Duplicate Folders — Folder pairs whose names, file counts, and total sizes match. Use this to spot whole directories that were copied to multiple locations.
- Disk Usage — Overview of all drives with capacity, free space, file system type, and an optional pie chart. Loads instantly without scanning — useful for a quick health check across all drives.
- File Types — Space usage broken down by file extension. Use this to find what categories of files (video, logs, archives) are dominating your storage.
- File Sizes — Distribution of files across size ranges. Use this to understand whether your disk is crowded with many small files or a few large ones.
- File Dates — Distribution of files by age (last modified date). Use this to identify stale data — files untouched for years that may be safe to archive or delete.
- Largest Files — The top 50 biggest files found during the scan. Use this for the fastest possible space recovery — delete one large file and reclaim more space than deleting hundreds of small ones.
- File Monitor — Real-time log of file and folder changes in a watched folder. Use this to see exactly what an application is writing to disk, or to audit activity on a shared folder.
- Regex Search — All text strings inside files that match a regular expression, shown one match per row. Use this to extract data from logs, config files, or any text-based format across thousands of files at once.
