Installation

Setup

Download the latest installer from the Blacksun Software website.
Run the installer. If Windows shows a User Account Control prompt, click Yes to allow the installation to proceed.
Follow the on-screen instructions. The installer will create a Start Menu shortcut and optionally a desktop icon.
Launch Disk Recon from the Start Menu or the desktop shortcut.

No reboot is required after installation.

System Requirements

Operating System: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, or Windows 11 (32-bit and 64-bit)
Free Disk Space: 5 MB for the application
Permissions: Standard user account is sufficient for most scans. Administrator rights are required to scan folders that are protected by Windows (e.g. C:\Windows\System32) or to modify system file attributes.

Uninstall

Method 1 — Start Menu: Open Start Menu → Programs → Disk Recon → Uninstall. Follow the uninstall instructions.

Method 2 — Windows Settings: Open Settings → Apps (Windows 10/11) or Control Panel → Programs and Features (Windows 7/8). Select Disk Recon in the list and click Uninstall.

Uninstalling removes the application files and Start Menu shortcuts. Your scan results and settings stored in the Disk Recon data folder are not deleted automatically.
