Settings Storage

ColorMania stores its settings in two different ways depending on which version you are using.

Installed Version

The installed version saves its settings to the Windows Registry. Settings are stored automatically when ColorMania closes and restored the next time it starts.

Portable Version

The portable version saves its settings to a plain text file named ColorMania.ini, stored in the same folder as the executable. This makes it fully self-contained — you can carry it on a USB drive or move it between computers without losing your settings, and nothing is written to the Windows Registry.

Note that if you run the portable version from a folder that requires administrator privileges to write to (such as Program Files), the settings file may not save correctly. Keep the portable version in a folder where you have full write permissions, such as your Documents folder or a USB drive.

Saved Settings

The following settings are saved automatically when ColorMania closes and restored on the next startup:

The current main color
The current palette colors
The font color
The magnifier zoom level
The magnifier crosshair setting
The window position

ColorMania as a Color Dialog

ColorMania can be used as a replacement color dialog in other Blacksun Software applications, including X-Fonter and Texefex.
