ColorMania 15.0
Additional Useful Info
Settings Storage
ColorMania stores its settings in two different ways depending on which version you are using.
Installed Version
The installed version of ColorMania saves its settings to the Windows Registry. This is the standard behaviour for installed Windows applications. The settings are stored automatically when ColorMania is closed and restored the next time it starts.
Portable Version
The portable version of ColorMania saves its settings to a plain text file named ColorMania.ini, stored in the same folder as the ColorMania executable. This makes the portable version self-contained — you can carry it on a USB drive or move it between computers without losing your settings, and no data is written to the Windows Registry.
Note that if you copy the portable version to a folder that requires administrator privileges to write to (such as Program Files), the settings file may not save correctly. It is recommended to keep the portable version in a folder where you have full write permissions, such as your Documents folder or a USB drive.
Saved Settings
Several settings are stored when ColorMania is shut down. These settings are reused the next time ColorMania is started.
These settings include:
- The current main color
- The current palette colors
- The font color
- The magnifier level
- The magnifier crosshair
- The window position
ColorMania as color dialog
ColorMania has been implemented as an optional color dialog in a few of our programs : X-Fonter and Texefex.
