Fonts Removed or Changed from Windows 10
  • Segoe UI (Regular, Bold, etc.) — still present in Windows 11 for application compatibility, but Segoe UI Variable is now the system UI typeface used by Windows itself.
  • No fonts were removed between Windows 10 and Windows 11 in the base font set. All families present in Windows 10 continue to ship with Windows 11.
What Affects the Font Count
  • Language packs — installing a language pack adds script-specific fonts for that language.
  • Microsoft Office — Office installs many additional families (Aptos, extra Calibri variants, etc.) that are not part of Windows itself. On Windows 11, Aptos is the new Office default but it does not ship with Windows.
  • OEM manufacturers — some PC manufacturers add or remove fonts from the base Windows image before shipping a device.
  • Windows Update — Microsoft occasionally adds new font families through updates over time.
  • Optional Features — developer features available via Settings › Apps › Optional Features (such as Raster Fonts) can add further families.
